The Bright Side of Seasonal Changes (If you let it be bright)

We all feel it, the calm before the cold. There is something that feels so good but also so not good about a new season and the funny thing is, sometimes the good and the bad are about the exact same thing. The cold. Good or bad? The changing colours? Good or bad? The change in routine. Good or bad? Getting closer to the end of the year. Good or bad? These things - the cold, changing colours, change in routine, getting closer to the end of the year, they are all out of our control. So what is in our control? How we view it. Our perception.

Make Room for Both

Maybe the cold means cozy evenings at home, but it also means missing those long summer nights. Maybe getting closer to the end of the year feels exciting, but brings up thoughts about everything you wanted to do by now. Both can be true. We don’t have to decide that a season is entirely good or bad, or force ourselves to love every part of it.

The Power of Perception

Our perception doesn’t change the weather, but it can change how we move through it. Instead of asking, “Why am I not looking forward to this?” maybe we ask, “What would make this season feel a little better for me?” A slower morning, something to look forward to, giving ourselves a little more time to adjust. Sometimes that’s where we start.

Happy Fall!

A beautiful picture from my morning run today - embracing the cold, the changing colours, the change of routine and nearing the end of 2026.
